“STEAM INTO THE FUTURE” Program

Mission
“STEAM INTO THE FUTURE” is a transformative out-of-school-time program aimed at empowering individuals aged 5 to 17 by building solid foundations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). This program addresses the academic and social challenges faced by at-risk youth, paving the way for success in STEAM-related degrees and careers.

Program Components

• Robotics: Hands-on experiences in design, coding, and engineering help participants develop critical problem-solving skills while fostering innovation and teamwork.
• Performing Arts: Through acting, dancing, singing, and creative expression, students build confidence, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
• Astronomy: With guided stargazing, access to telescopes, and exciting lessons about the cosmos, participants ignite their curiosity about the universe and gain an appreciation for science.

From Chicago, Illinois, to Lagos, Nigeria, STARR is breaking barriers and inspiring a global movement for STEAM education and innovation. By starting and sustaining robotics programs in four Nigerian schools, we’re empowering students with the tools they need to become problem-solvers and changemakers in their communities.

In Nigeria, our STARR Agents are exploring the transformative potential of solar energy, developing creative and practical solutions to address the country’s pressing energy challenges. Through this hands-on learning, they’re not only gaining technical skills but also cultivating innovation and resilience.

STARR’s mission to inspire STEAM pathways to success transcends borders, equipping the next generation with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Our aim is to bridge the wealth gap and inspire economic advancements within at-risk communities and beyond.   

Founded on July 20, 2012, STARR is dedicated to preparing and positioning underserved communities with STEAM pathways to success. With a mission to inspire innovation and opportunity, we’ve partnered with several organizations across Chicago to implement impactful community outreach initiatives that increase STEAM Awareness.
